Although I've been running off and on for years, I'm at the start of a journey back from injury to my first 100 mile race. My journey starts with the Green Corridor 10.5k in May and the Sundown Half in June, via a 50k North Face race in October and on to a 100 mile race scheduled for 'some point' in 2015. I'm not sure where and I'm not sure exactly when but I'm on the look out.
I love running for its simplicity. The idea of moving forward one step at a time is so simple and yet within it there's such complexity, and one that draws runners of all shapes, sizes, levels and goals together.
A Londoner originally, I've lived in Switzerland and Australia before moving to Singapore in 2013 and now battle heat and humidity daily whilst training. It's been tough adapting to the additional stresses that come with running just 100 miles north of the equator - not least the 20% drop in lung capacity! I live with my partner, Simon, and our two cats, Santis and Galene.
This blog is an online journal of my progress to 100 miles. It's been a dream for so long and one that I'm now ready to make a reality.
Along the way I'll be posting about all things running - training, races kit and so on - veggie recipes and nutrition. In particular I'll talk about running in different places. I travel a lot and have lived in a lot of places over the last few years which means I'm used to getting lost when out for a run and doing a few extra kilometres...
It's such a simple thing, but yet, there's so much of a culture, a community, and inner-connectedness around that simple thing.
